    • 7/19/17 The Supreme Court upholds the "Grandparent" exemption to Trump's travel ban, including grandparents, grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, siblings in law, aunts and uncles as "close family." (NPR)
  • 7/14/17 The White House releases a trove of emails from voters offering comment on its Election Integrity Commission without redacting any of the personal information contained in the emails, including email addresses, phone numbers and home addresses. (WaPo)

  • 7/17/17 Trump legal team member Jay Sekulow tries to legitimize Donald Jr's meeting with Russians during the campaign in which Jr was promised incriminating information on Hillary Clinton by the Kremlin. Sekulow says that the Secret Service screened everyone at the meeting, to which the Secret Service responds: "Donald Trump Jr. was not a protectee of the USSS in June, 2016. Thus we would not have screened anyone he was meeting with at that time." (CNN)
  • 7/18/17 Is reported that Trump met with Putin for an hour after their public 2.5 hour meeting at the G20 summit on July 7, with the White House stating that it was only a brief conversation. (WaPo)
  • 7/19/17 Says in an interview with New York Times: “[Attorney General Jeff] Sessions should have never recused himself, and if he was going to recuse himself, he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else.” (NYT)(interview transcript)

  • 7/19/17 Is reported that the U.S. government is paying over $130,000 per month to lease a space in Trump Tower for the military office that supports the White House. The $2.39 million lease to rent a 3,475 square foot space is far above market value. (WSJ)

  • 7/21/17 White House announces plans to nominate campaign aide Sam Clovis to head the U.S. Department of Agriculture despite Clovis's lack of science background and a congressional rule maintaining that the role must be filled "from among distinguished scientists." (CNN)
  • 7/22/17 Unleashes almost a dozen tweets in rapid fire over two hours, asserting that he has "complete power to pardon" everyone under him, including family and himself, and citing "illegal leaks" and "fake news" as some of his woes. (WaPo)

  • 7/25/17 Tweets attacks on attorney general Jeff Sessions and acting director of the F.B.I. Andrew McCabe regarding Clinton, and alleges that Ukraine illegally aided Clinton during the campaign, directly citing Fox News host Sean Hannity as his source. (NYT)
  • 7/26/17 Holds a rally in Youngstown, Ohio and claims both that he hasn't been presidential because he is getting things done and he is more presidential than any president except Abraham Lincoln. He also airs his grievances about AG Jeff Sessions and Republicans, and touts his delivered campaign promises in the areas of gun rights and immigration policies. (CNN)
  • 7/26/17 Announces that he will reinstate a ban on transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Armed Forces. (CNN)
    • The announcement was made on Twitter and blindsided the Joint Chiefs of Staff and before Secretary of State Mattis was able to receive the results of a study on transgender individuals in the military. (CNN)
    • The tweets Trump uses to reinstate the ban cause officials at the Pentagon to fear the launch of nuclear war, since the message was broken into 140 character snippets and there was a nine minute delay between these two tweets: "After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow......" and then nine minutes later "....Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming...." (Gizmodo)
  • 7/26/17 Trump's Justice Department intervenes in a private employment case, urging a federal appeals court to rule that civil rights law does not bar job discrimination based on sexual orientation. (WaPo)
  • 7/27/17 An official with the Boy Scouts of America apologizes for the political content of Trump's speech at the National Scout Jamboree on 7/24/17. (CNN)
  • 7/29/17 Threatens to end billions in federal health insurance subsidies to the poor and to congressmen and their families if Congress does not pass a new healthcare bill, tweeting: "if a new HealthCare Bill is not approved quickly, BAILOUTS for Insurance Companies and BAILOUTS for Members of Congress will end very soon!" This comes one day after a catastrophic failure by GOP senators to repeal Obamacare. (Reuters)
  • 7/29/17 Tweets a string of messages insulting GOP senators and demanding that they hold another vote to repeal Obamacare. (WaPo)
  • 7/30/17 U.S. police chiefs around the country condemn Trump for endorsing police forces to use more violence with suspects. When speaking to a gathering of officers in New York, Trump said in part: "When you guys put somebody in the car and you’re protecting their head, you know, the way you put their hand over? Like, don’t hit their head, and they just killed somebody — don’t hit their head. I said, you can take the hand away, okay?” (WaPo)
  • 7/31/17 A group of psychiatrists at a conference at Yale University claim that Trump has a "dangerous mental illness" and is not fit to govern. Dr. John Gartner of Johns Hopkins University warns that Trump is not just a narcissist, but also paranoid and delusional. (Independent)
  • 7/31/17 Fires WH Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci on the day that his new Chief of Staff, former Homeland Security secretary John Kelly, starts his job. Scaramucci was communications director for ten days. (NYT)
  • 7/31/17 Is reported that on July 8th, Trump personally dictates a statement on behalf of his son Don Trump Jr. in which Jr. says that he and the Russian lawyer with whom he had infamously met with during the campaign had “primarily discussed a program about the adoption of Russian children” when they met in June 2016. The statement, issued to the New York Times as it prepared an article, emphasized that the subject of the meeting was “not a campaign issue at the time.” The claims were later shown to be misleading.
